The name of the Apicella family has been linked to dentistry since the beginning of the last century, as evidenced by the advertisements published in newspapers of the period referring to the founder Dr. Angelo Apicella, one of the first nationwide to obtain the title of specialist in dentistry and unique to practice it in the local area.
Dr. Angelo Apicella's dental practice stood in what is now Piazza Battisti and the building that housed him fell under the Allied bombs during the fierce bombing of 1943. Angelo died in 1948 and his son Raffaele took over in the difficult years of post-war reconstruction, during which he created a surgery with an annexed laboratory in Piazza Giordano. His children Dr. Angelo, Dr. Renato, Dr. Antonio and Dr. Silvio arrived in chronological order to accompany him in his daily clinical activity.
Dr. Raffaele passed away in 1997 at the age of 83 years. Up until the previous year he had worn daily the shirt with which he had honoured his profession for more than 50 years. At the beginning of the year 2000, Dr. Angelo together with his children Dr. Raffaele and Dr. Roberta, created this Apicella dental practice, in the physiological search for new space.
